Documents must be signed or sealed by an authority.

To issue an apostille a document must be correctly signed, stamped or sealed. Government documents bear the signature or stamp of the relevant office. Other public officials can sign documents including notaries, solicitors, police officers, doctors and vets.

Many documents also need to be signed by our solicitor before the apostille is attached. We include this within our service to save you time and money.

If you have a degree certificate and transcript, producing a bound set of documents will save you money. The same applies if you have several academic documents in one persons name.

Company documents are frequently legalised as one set. We can download company documents from Companies House and produce one set of documents under one apostille.

Bound sets are accepted in many countries. However, we recommend that you check this will be suitable for your circumstances. We cannot guarantee sets of documents are suitable for all purposes.

Government issued documents should not be bound as a set. This includes birth, marriage and death certificates, criminal record checks, court papers and many of the document listed under our ‘apostille only’ standard service.

Apostille Price FAQs

Everything you need to know about the price of an Apostille.

With our service, the cost to apostille a document in the UK starts from £82 per document. This covers government and public documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and signed criminal record checks where no solicitor certification is required. If your document needs solicitor certification before the apostille can be attached – for example a degree certificate or employment letter – the price is £94 per document. Both services include document checks, FCDO submission, the government fee and order tracking. There are no hidden charges.

The FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) charges a government fee for issuing each apostille certificate. For standard postal applications this is £45.00 per document and for business counter applications this is £40.00 per document.

This fee is included within our apostille prices – you will not be charged separately. Our £82 and £94 prices are all-inclusive: document checks, FCDO submission and the FCDO government fee. This means you can compare our prices directly with competitors on a like-for-like basis.

Apostilling a degree certificate costs £94. Degree certificates are not signed by a government authority, which means they require solicitor certification before the FCDO can attach the apostille. Our £94 service includes both the solicitor certification and the apostille in one step – you do not need to arrange the solicitor separately. The same price applies to masters certificates, diplomas, professional qualifications and other academic documents.
Apostilling a UK birth certificate costs £82. Birth certificates are issued by the General Register Office (GRO) or register office and bear either an official signature or seal, so no solicitor certification is required. The price covers document checks, express submission to the FCDO Legalisation Office and order tracking. Turnaround is typically 1–2 working days from receipt of your documents.
We check every document before submission to the FCDO to confirm it meets legalisation requirements. If we identify a problem we will contact you before proceeding, which significantly reduces the risk of rejection. In the event that we are unable to process your document after checking, we will provide a full refund of our service fee. We will always let you know immediately if your document cannot be legalised.
