Declaration of Value for Italy - Academic Documents

26/07/2021 - Update - Documents must now be certified by a Notary Public rather than a solicitor prior to the apostille being issued.

If you have a UK qualification, or you have studied in the UK, and need your certificates to be accepted in Italy you may be asked to obtain a Declaration of Value from the Italian Consulate in London.

Your certificate will need a UK apostille before the Italian Consulate will accept it.

When is a Declaration of value needed?

“Declarations of Value” may be needed from the consulate for several reasons. These commonly include

  • Getting a qualification or academic results recognised in Italy for employment;
  • Continuing your studies in Italy having studied in the UK;
  • Getting a UK professional qualification recognised in Itlay.

The Italian Consulate General issues “Declarations of Value” (Dichiarazioni di Valore in Loco) for UK certifications, GCSEs, A Levels, degrees, professional certificates and other academic qualifications.

How to obtain a Declaration of Value from the Italian Consulate?

You will need to submit a certified copy of your document with the apostille attached. They also require their application form completing which you can locate on the consulate website.

After you have arranged for the document to be certified by a notary public we can arrange for the document to be issued with the apostille in just 1 to 2 days. You can then submit the application to the Italian Consulate. The fee for the declaration is £36.60.
